Lesson Objective

To solve and graph one-variable inequalities Development/Procedures Geometry classes typically need to review Algebra I topics prior to entry into Algebra II. The fundamental concept of inequalities with one-variable was presented as preparation for more challenging topics, especially in graphing. The warm-up exercises were a quick re-introduction as to what inequalities are. Inequalities have 3 answers: one numerical, one graphic and the last in the form of a sentence.

Direct instruction involved 3 examples done together by the entire class, followed by 3 more problems done in groups. How the ELMO SRS, ELMO SRS software and other technology were used The ELMO SRS was used to check for student understanding. Students can click in yes or no during direct instruction. The ELMO Tablet was used by selected to students to show their work and thought process during direct instructions. Students were able to show and explain step by step how to solve, graph and explain the answer for a one-variable inequality. Sample problems were given to students to complete independently and selected student papers were shown on the ELMO Document Camera.
