TECHNICAL NOTICE
November 2005
“Notice of Potential CCD failure for the units manufactured
between OCT. 2002 and JUL 2004”
ELMO has recently been advised by its supplier of CCD (Charge Coupled Device) Image sensors that some of the CCD they supplied may be defective. While this announcement is not from ELMO, we have a responsibility to advise our clients of this potential failure.
In addition to ELMO, many other prominent manufacturers of video based educational and consumer video products are facing the same difficulty. Adding to the challenge with this potential CCD failure is the fact that it occurs over an indeterminate time span and cannot be verified at the time of installation at our factory.
ELMO takes this situation very seriously and is, by way of this failure notice, advising our clients to contact ELMO Technical Support directly at 1-800-947-3566 to report any possible difficulties relating to the performance of our Visual Presenters and Security Cameras. ELMO will arrange to have the units returned to ELMO's factory Service Center in New York for repair and / or replacement of the CCD chips which are found, upon inspection, to be part of the defective lot we were supplied. The symptoms of the failure are several, such as blurred image, distorted image or no image at all.
The units in question were manufactured between
October 2002 and July 2004.
We apologize for any difficulties these problems might present to our customers and are making every effort to resolve the problem quickly and efficiently. ELMO has stood behind every product we have manufactured for 84 years and this is no exception. Our reputation and popularity around the globe is based on this philosophy.
